I was just looking at my 159 2.4 and happened to notice the battery seemed a lot smaller than the tray and the clamp was not 100% holding the battery in place.

the battery is a bosch s4 004 rated at 540ah

my checking has shown it should be a much larger 096 battery at 680ah approx

ive not had any issues starting or anything , but think i better change it quick smart.

two questions i have.

1. where is a good place to source a new battery delivered

2. is it easy to change the battery and any tips? I must admit with all the other bits on the positive side of the battery I thought i better ask first, just in case its not a simple job

Ok looking at the technical data disc i have it says the alfa 159 2.4 jtd should have a 90ah battery
all the websites for batteries though are showing batteries at no more than 77ah for this car?

should the battery be 90 ah or is the data disc wrong?

What i've found out is that the battery in the 159 1.9JTDM is same battery sold in europart as a Exide Battery which should fit like a glove as it is the same dimension and further more it comes with more power and is cheaper cost me £61.15 including delivery.

CHEERS DAVID C.

got a bosch s4 battery from where you suggested £69.99 all in

arrived after two days and fitted on car now.

all good

btw, the battery was very well packed in a box and not dropped off loose with just plastic covering like some places do

and when you fit the battery don't forget you will need to allow the climate controls system to reset/recalibrate. Check your handbook for how to set - usually leaving the power on for an amount of time for it too settle.
