Evening all.

Driving back from the Ideal Home exhibition in London today, Clare at the wheel, me in the passenger seat, in laws in the back, loads of bags in the boot, doing about 70 in lane 3 of the M1 just North of Milton Keynes when the car starts to rumble noticeably. Steering also starts to wobble so we aim for the hard shoulder and luckily find a sort of "lay by" to stop in.

Result = 1 Knackered 18" P Zero Nero on our loan car:(

Thankfully, Clare's Dad was able to do the grafty bits and at least the journey home at 50mph gave 53mpg:thumbs:

Would not have wanted to change a wheel on the hard shoulder as it was scary enough in the lay by bit:eek: There were also no traffic wombles around either:rolleyes:

Now on one of those Citroen 2CV wheels so I really want my Ti back:cry:

What a bummer though:rolleyes:

Cheers,

50mph on a NSA road is dangerous IMHO. Good for economy though:rolleyes:

Must try it in my Ti for a day to see how good it gets:lol:

I'm getting Tyron bands fitted to the caravan next week for the very reason of the possibility of a sudden tyre deflation:eek:.

Very lucky, could have been worse with a fully loaded car

Not usually...everytime I had a courtesy car, the terms always stated that I'd have to pay for a replacement tyre although maybe this varies from dealer to dealer?

I didn't see any terms for the car or sign anything. I was told it was on their insurance so Clare & her Dad could drive as well as me. They know about the tyre and haven't mentioned payment at all.

I would not expect the dealership concerned to ask me to pay. They are one of the new breed of ARUK appointed dealers:cool:

Yeah.. a good garage will have their own contacts to sort issues (or buy new tyres) at trade prices, so they ought to absorb the odd problem.

50 mph is dangerously slow on 70 mph roads:eek:

I've asked how long can you use the spare for and the answer was 1800 miles.

Car is dead stable mind you, as it was with the tyre blown.

Hopefully get my Ti back tomorrow & I can't wait......

Been there twice now. :(

Skinny spare is bloody horrible!

Ended up driving to Dover and
down until Laon before picking
up a new one.

Scary and pretty dangerous driving
at 50 mph on a motorway.

Same wheel as your one both times too.
