Hi all,

Im needing to replace my timing belts, variator and water pump but just cant afford it. My local garage is my mates and he is more than competant to do it but doesnt have alfa tools.

Would anyone be willing to loan me their tools so i can get the job done cheaply?
I can understand that not many folk would want to lend tools, but they are in the hands of a 40 year mechanic.

Im not sure if all the tools are the same, i drive a 147.
Any postage costs there and back, would gladly be covered on my behalf.

Cheers for reading.

You can find a set of cam locks for £30 ... that's the only tool you'll need. The DTI tool is optional ... a good mechanic can do the job without it.
The variator socket is optional too .... you can easily make a tool out of some scrap metal that looks like this: http://goo.gl/yZdDE

The belt & Tensioners Cam, balance etc will be costing you the guts of £170-200 parts alone so, approx £150 for tools is the breakdown so belts change are seldom a cheap job in my opinion.

cam locks essential
garage should have a DTI guage
the others make life a bit easier but not essential, the balancer tensioner is useful, I found that more handy than the belt tensioner
