Hi guys
what would/could be the symptoms of worn fuel injectors ?????
Could it cause excessive fuel consumption ????
Slightly lumpy tickover ???

When I come to a stop, my car ticks over at about 1100rpm for about5 seconds then drops to around 850rpm. I'm assuming this is the ECU telling the engine to rev to clear all the fuel kicking about. This only started a couple of weeks ago.
Otherwise the car runs very well apart from my constant niggle of using too much fuel. Lambda and other sensors are all new(ish).

My car has just cleared 110000 miles. I have a set of injectors from a 60000 mile car which I did get 30mpg from easily even when driven very hard (with a blown head gasket  )

HELP !!!!

Yeh clogged injectors could cause that. Poor driveability, high emmisions and general lumpiness until there is enough air flow not to matter as much. Also, what condition are your rubber insulators in between the inlet manifold and plenum chamber? If one draws air, it could have the same effect. Check all other rubber hoses on the induction side very carefully. I sometimes spray a flammable aerosol onto the suspect hose. If there is a difference in engine idle, you've found it! :D

Cheers guys. I'm pretty sure the injectors aren't clogged, but I thought they might be just "worn" so that no amount of cleaning will get them back to top notch.
Ally I'll check the rubbers, they actually don't look too bad, but could be better.

Marlon if it`s revving then dropping to tick over try giving the idle control unit a de-gunge when they get carboned up they do that ..............sort of as if the throttle sticks briefly and then rests ;)

Might also be letting the wrong amount of air through on idle and causing the uneven running

BTW mines done 157,000 now and i have no probs with the injector`s and hers is onto around 144,000 and no probs with injector`s...........usually it`s only DIEsels that give trouble with WORN injector`s Petrol`s can usually handle a poor spray pattern as long as there`s fuel getting through ;) :D Ypu can remove em and crank the motor with them connected to see if they are working or not ;) ;)
