My insurance company accepts only these two, Allglass and Autoglass. Anybody has any experience with either of them? I'm worried about the chrome strip around the glass.
windscreen replacement - which company?

Another one for Autoglass. Did a good job on the leon and eventually got the 33 sorted after their first tech. made a t it of it. Make sure you point out your concerns about the chrome. Bulling at the job and cutting the original rubber was the source of the problem with the screen in the 33

Had windscreen replaced with autoglass , they did good job and still very fast.

well, Autoglass wants to fix the chip only. I want to replace the windscreen. They want ~250 euros. I'm open to suggestions.

I had a chip last year & Autoglass repaired it, not perfect but almost.
There is a guide on the Autoglass website which tells you what they will repair & when they will replace, mine was borderline but they repaired it which was what I wanted as I really didn't want a replacement screen.

I know, thanks, and my insurance covers it.
I called them, they said if the chip is smaller than a 2 euro coin, they will repair it. I told them I have some scratches at my eye level, but they won't fix it, it's normal tear and wear, they fix the chip and that's that. So, if I want to get it replaced, it will come out of my pocket.
I'll call the other guys tomorrow, I guess they won't do it on my insurance either, but I hope they go under 200 euros. I just filled up the car on Saturday for 100 euros, and I'm broke.

I can't, I have to take the car to Gerry, to get the rain sensor fixed (amongst some other few things), and I'm leaving (probably for my last) big driving tour in the Alps in September.

I wouldn't recommend anyone do anything ropey.
You would be surprised how the slightest pothole etc can worsen a little chip to a crack.
My brown sud had a chip and next time I looked it was a 4-6 inch crack.
But here's the thing - they replace it and then tell me there's rust under there!!

I prefer a good night sleep over a 200+ euros saving for the petrol fund. Anyway, Allglass quoted me 350 euros, so I'll get Autoglass to come to work (underground car park) and replace it there this week.
