The windscreen on my '99 GTV developed a large crack at the bottom right corner so I got in touch with my insurers and they arranged for RAC Autoscreens to come out. After two aborted attempts they finally turned up and replaced the screen a few days ago. I noticed that the new glass wasn't sitting as low as the original, and last night noticed smears on the outside of the glass which just won't come off and which cause glare when it rains. This morning the seal at the top of the screen came loose on the way to work. Thet assure me that the glass is the correct size and that seals can often blow out (yeah, deffo) and replacement glass rarely sits as low as factory fitted because they are pressed in properly at the factory... Does anyone have experience of replacement screens on a GTV? Do the early and late models use the same screen? Am I better off taking it to an Alfa dealer and getting them to take care of it?

I had the screen replaced on my '98 GTV very early on. Despite people telling me "It won't fit", "it won't seal", "ooh it'll never be the same", etc etc - I never had any problems with it at all.

Dunno if this anecdote helps much - but I don't have the car anymore, nor any other memories of this problem.

By the way, the screen was replaced, under warranty by Alfa. They arranged for a third party windscreen replacement company to visit my work. There was no need to take it to the Alfa dealer for the work, nor have Alfa specialists do the job.

I've a 2003 GTV (Phase 2) and the windscreen was replaced about a year ago at an Alfa specialist. Apart from the seal on the driver's side of the windscreen coming loose a few months ago (I got the garage that fitted it to re-stick it), you wouldn't know it wasn't the original windscreen - fits like a glove.

I'm pretty sure the old and late GTVs use the same screen by the way.
