Ok so I was asked late last night to pop down to the chinese to pick up some stuff for the 2-b-x wife. No problem, quick burn in the GTV round the long way to the chinese, always fun.

Get there, get food, jump in, wont start. Oh yes that petrol light that has been on since this morning (Payday tomorrow).

20 Minute walk home.

Pick up Petrol can and borrow £10

20 Minute walk to Garage

20 Minute walk carrying heavy petrol can to car.

Now any normal car I'd have gone the short way to the chinese, picked it up gone home and still had enough petrol to get to the garage in the morning. It's that love to drive feeling that gets you in trouble :)

Edit : Maybe it's good.. I need more exercise!

you get that far???????

Mine came on last week, 10 miles later as I pulled onto the garage forecourt it spluttered and I rolled up to the pump with no engine :)
Similarly I don't get much warning when the light comes on. In fact the final quarter of my tank seems to go down very quickly. I'm assuming this is normal? It's not a problem if you know it's coming - almost got caught out a few times when I first bought my car though!

I've got 30 miles out of my tank from the light coming on, then brimmed it and only managed to get 63 litres in meaning there are at least 7 litres still in the tank! or a possible 35 miles meaning 70 miles on the light!!!

I've done this at least 4 times now and the result is consistent. Maybe my light just comes on earlier than others for some reason.

Unfortunately the day before payday is usually 'Light on.. Drive like a 90 year old on a sunday' day. Mine is a bit all over the place. I had only done around 12 miles since the light came on, however last month I'd got more like 40 miles since the light appeared.

Gotta test that this weekend too (hopefully..) start her up and see if the top pipe gets warm along with the engine or suddenly gets all hot and burns my hand (If I've got that troubleshooting right!) I keep meaning to do it then on a nice morning I find we have run out of milk or something and end up shooting down to the shops and forgetting.

Part of the petrol consumption issue is definately due to me going the long way round.. or going wayyyy to quick (shh!)
