Anyone any tips to what paint to use to paint a couple of parking sensors ? Ive an aerosol can of water based alfa 130 from my 156 that i never used and was hoping that it wouldnt be too different from the 159 289A. Can water based paint be used without lacquer or am i better trying to source the correct shade in a solvent based paint. I also thought the 159 alfa red 289A was a flat paint with no lacquer

I have used both and to good effect but i was taught by a body shop specialist.
The water based seems to be pretty much the same but I have only used it on a hot sunny day. As always lots of thin layers work best and prevents runs.

NOTE: it is NOT petrol resistant, I spent ages restoring a KMX200 motorbike and almost cried when on first fuel fill (from a jerry can) the paint on the fuel tank ended up dripping off with the spilt fuel. Apparently there is a fuel proof clear lacquer.

You can go to a motor vehicle paint company and they could knock you up an aerosol can to the correct paint code. If you use water based paints without a clear lacquer there is a strong chance that it will wash off in time. On another note, if you put too much paint on your parking sensors you might affect there performance. Try to only paint them once.

Cheers for the info guys
yaeh water based aerosols need to be lacquered without it the paint was just rubbing off. For future reference i used a couple of light coats of both primer, base paint and petrol resistant lacquer. Even tho the paint i had was a different Alfa red it looks ok, and i now have parking assistance again :D
