Noticed the other day a dramatic fall in Admiral share price and had my renewal quote at begining of this month. I have been with Admiral for 6+ years and every year go through the usual time consuming nonsense of ringing around and playing them off against each other. I call the best online quote and haggle another £20 and refuse all their preloaded "Extras" and always state that my prime concern is protected no claims , fully Comp & final one off payment cost?

Admiral are providing a quote that is 24% more expensive than last years and currently will not budge, time is a precious commodity and i do hate the effort required every year if you are savy and .....:Im hopeing that one of you guys can save me time, and tell me who is currently offering competitive quotes and therefore taken the business Admiral are loseing?

Cheers as always, :)

We're signing up every other quote at the moment for Alfa club members because of our special arrangements for Alfa Romeos specifically. Please give us a call. We'll also enter you into our September prize draw to win a Karcher Pressure Washer.

best,

Cheeky Beggars!

Hi Nick & Dan, i have tried getting quotes from you guys previous years, but you guys were not even in the ball park, so i must admit that i have not been as thorough as i shouda been.

But, the reason for my post title is that i rang hastings and got a £165 quote fully comp, protected no claims (16yrs), 44yrs old male with 3 yr medical licence (Type1 Diabetic for 34 yrs). Banking/Academic, car kept on private drive. 4000 miles per year.

Rang back Admiral and spoke with very pleasant girl and told them that Hastings were coming in at £165 and would they match? ..... Considering i have been with them for so long and i was told no but £170 was as low as they are now prepared to go. I know im splitting hairs now and im happy with Admirals quote but what peeved me off was ....

....."We have your bank details on file and will automatically deduct the agreed amount on the due date, unless you contact us first".

I began to feel my anger rise and politely told the girl that i had not given them permission to retain my bank details (Always make full one-off payment), if i have i was duped? Please remove my details from your database. .......Cheeky Buggers!

Isn't that a breach of the Data Protection Act?

We have to shred and delete any and all customer details we receive, aside from necessary stuff. Card details are at the top of the "shred immediately after use" list

Sounds like you're paying by DD. You may have agreed to terms and conditions at the outset that state they will auto-renew your policy unless they hear from you, by the renewal date, that you wish to cancel. Those T&Cs may not have been obvious.
