So forget the BMW talk, this is an Alfa Romeo forum, I want to talk Giulia, I have no intention of even crossing the threshold of a BMW showroom.

So, who is going to their Alfa Dealer in April, that is if you havent already been, to talk details, and which engine spec are you looking at? I'm looking to buy a 200bhp petrol with something like a Lusso type trim level. Whats yours?

petrol, turbo, Super with sports package, will be a while before the 280 comes out, so might check the 200. Have discussed likely pricing with my dealer and can expect something along the lines of the 3.2 Ti 159 equivalent pricing in Aust (which was high 60's AUD)

may even look at how much the 19inch "maltese cross" wheels will cost

red calipers, sunroof

black on black ... maybe the Monza Red

Alfa Romeo Giulia: nuova Giulia | Le auto sportive | Alfa Romeo

Now all i need to do is pick the correct lottery numbers :readit:

the Monte Carlo Blue is a very nice Alfa shade

its a shame they never released a 159 in blue ...well not in Oz anyway

that metallic blue looks pretty squish under those show lights, i imagine the daylight version will be a darker shade

theres quite a palette to choose from here ...

I had a 159 in oltramare Blue over here in the UK. Looked class.

Anyhow onto the giulia. I have got abit of pondering to do, my 159 SW is getting on abit at 8 yrs old with 135K on the clock (its having its MOT next week and its started to shudder at high speeds - im hoping its just needs a diesel clean out and not the DMF). I can afford to buy a new giulia and it will be in diesel spec (180bhp) as i do 20k miles a yr. But i would rather a sportwagon and if there was one i would be queing outside the dealership on 15th April with my order, but theres not. So do i wait and hope one follows shortly or wait for the "Stelvio" which may or may not follow 6 months later or compromise and get the giulia and hope the boot is large enough for all my 2 kids stuff. Decisions decisions but good ones - Either way Alfa all the way!!

Waiting on pricing and more info for the 280. Still undecided. I want to like it but I fear Alfa UK will get greedy with pricing, and I'm still not sure I want another auto.

I think it simply has to compete on pricing.

Going on whats been announced at the Geneva motor show i'll probably have wait a bit longer. Don't have the need for a diesel, not keen on automatics which are the only option on petrol versions (apart from QV).
I believe new car sales are 70-80% PCP, will be interesting to see how FCA compete with the Germans and there 'Deposit contributions' deals.

I'd love to get one in April but I don't think we ( in Canada) will see a 2.0gas version until october/november... and I would need an AWD...RWD doesn't do well in 20 cm of snow and ice!

I'm pretty sure that the order book will open in September for the UK. The UK product manager told me that the UK info and those email updates (that everyone signed up to and heard nothing) will start in April.
On the service side, I took the Giulietta into the dealers last month and have had calls from the dealer and a marketing company on behalf of Alfa. The dealer did at least provide an Alfa courtesy car this time and you don't have to go to the Ford service desk anymore, so it may well be that Alfa are pushing the dealer side more.
Anyway... my Giulietta PCP finishes next April, hopefully there will be some cars for demo in the autumn and if there's no negative equity on mine then I might change when I've seen the car interiors and can test drive. I think I'd enjoy having a Giulia more by having one early... before they become too common (haha).
From the configurator, I quite like the Monza red with the 17 Sport wheels. I've got two Alfa red cars at the moment but I'm not convinced that it will look as good on a bigger car (although when I did see the handful of Alfa red 159s out there I did like them). A 200hp petrol should be enough for me (I quite liked the 159 1750) and should be in the ballpark of the Giulietta Multiair performance. Only thing is though is that I'd hope that a manual was available by the time the UK ordering starts... I'm not sure about an auto, although if it's got paddle shift it might not be too bad. And I guess that 8 speed means you don't get clobbered on fuel like you used to.

Nope.............After years of Alfas I have just moved to a BMW M Sport. Took me nearly 3 months to make the decision. The new model launch dates just kept going back, so enough was enough. :depressed:

Will wait and see what happens over the next couple of years, model launches, cost price, depreciation etc. If the Abarth 124 Spider is the an example of the Groups cost model, then another BMW will be the next car. :banghead:

How are you going to feel every time a nice shiny throaty QV pulls up beside you and gives it a couple of revs ? LOL

BMW isn't (and shouldn't be) worried about Alfa Romeo. Even if the Giulia will have superior dynamics and performance, BMW will still sell 10 times more.

Not sure what the 124 Spider has to do with much except more delays. Went in to ask the local Fiat dealer about them and they say the UK won't get any until next year. Not sure if that's Fiat incompetence or dealer?

Ive put back buying a new car as i want to test drive the 200hp giulia before i spend my hard earned.Ive always bought 1 year old cars to let the niggles surface so id more than likely do the same again but the giulia is right at the top of my list of possibles (i wont post what is number 2/3 etc etc ;) )

But by looks alone the giulia is a winner in my eyes
