Morrissey is a contender and would have been an option in the poll if he been able to play an instrument.

Curtis and Smith are good but could never be the greatest.

Morrissey.

Roswell, you don't have to 'play an instrument' to be a musician, you have to be able to make music - that includes singing (mind you with Morrissey, that's debatable... ) ;)

What VO2Max said!! Apart from the Morrissey bit

I'd vote for Badly Drawn Boy or Guy Garvey (Elbow)
If it's purely a "musician" you want - it can only be Johhny Marr

...Noel Gallagher, are you being serious!!!! I'd rather listen to Frank Sidebottom

Noel Gallagher by streets, but he's not what I'd term "great" by any stretch of the imagination.

Can't stand Morrissey.

John Squire.

I like Ian Brown too, but I don't think he is a great singer.

I am not a fan of Morrissey, in fact I can't stand listening to his music, it really grates.
