Hi,
I fear the 3.0 V6 in my 75 may be on its last legs. Before I start planning on getting it rebuilt, can anyone advise on suitable donor swaps? I seem to recall reading somewhere that a 164 V6 24v can go in? Though I might have dreamt that!

All help much appreciated. Also recommendations for sourcing a replacement would help, too.

Ta very much,
Gav

One bank has a leaking head gasket, it is using oil and it sometimes almost loses power completely. Going into Alfacraft soon for some investigation. Was thinking a 24v unit might slot in for now, then I can get the 12v unit rebuilt later?

Fixing it will be cheaper than fitting a 24v

Personally I prefer the 12v to the 24v - the power delivery is more linear with much more guts low down. The 24v needs considerably more revs on it before things start happening.

Head gasket replacement is almost a normal servicing item for a 12v - two of mine needed them done. If you shop around I'm sure you can find a reputable specialist. That's the route I would go. It will be cheaper than an engine swap, you will know what you are getting and you can do the belt and water pump while you are at it.
