I see the terms veloce and lusso being chucked about quite a lot and I was just wondering out of curiosity which one mine is? Is it possible to be neither? I know it's not a facelift as it's a '99 one and it's not got the body coloured bumper stuff on it etc...

It's a silver '99 2.0L S reg.

I've got wooden centre console, steering wheel and gear stick
Blue leather interior with the logo on the front seats.

The wheels are those standard 15" ones though with quite a lot of holes not the teledial type.

I guess there might be some information in the manuals but I'm at work and bored so I thought I'd enquire!

Main thing is Veloce had sideskirts and teledials
And carbon-like centre console, leather steering wheel and gear knob, and black dials with red lighting. Also had lower suspension.

S-reg wouldn't be a Veloce though as they came later. Early cars had SportPack additions.

SportPack 1 was all of the above plus sport seats (velour), SP2 came with cloth Recaros, and SP3 was Momo leather seats.

Rear wing/spoiler was an extra as was sunroof.

I've been doing a bit of reading and it seems like all the different things are seemingly random across a lot of cars.

Carbon fibre and teledials where there shouldn't etc...

Quite interesting I guess!

Oh cool thanks for that!

Just out of interest - how did you know?
Easy... Wood, 15" pepperpot alloys, no side skirts, silvery/ white dials with green lighting and comfortable, more forgiving suspension = Lusso variant AKA clean, unspoilt and civilized.

Having owned both variants:

There are lots of things I like about Veloce's like the carbon effect dash and leather gearknob and steering wheel. I even like the orangey red on black dials... But those bloomin side skirts::vomit:... Look like an stick on "halfords special" afterthought but that's just my taste really.

Look on the bright side though mate.... I have yet to see a Lusso with a "pram handle" for a rear spoiler! :vomit:Thank God !!!:cheese:

What colour blue leather have you got? Two types, bright royal in ya face blue or a subtle pastel navy blue... Same combo as me if its the latter... Nice and quite rare apparently

Wow thanks for all the knowledge guys!

Ah lusso 'variant' sounds like the correct term.

I would say that the colour is darker - proper tricky trying to find a picture online. The ebay auction I found it on has expired now and actually the colour looked really light in the pictures which I wasn't so keen on and then when I got it, it was a lot darker.

Yeah thats the navy blue pastel same as mine... suits the chario silver nicely... quite rare as its usually black, red grey.... I have to admit, if I had a choice from new... It would have to be the burgundy oxblood leather to go with silver... lovely:p

Sounds nice - I don't much care for that type of bright red.

I think it's nice in other people's cars but it's too flashy for me personally, I wouldn't be able to take myself seriously with that.

A darker one sounds good though.

To be honest I love leopard print/snakeskin.

It's tacky as hell but I love it. kinda like girls that look like slags. I know I shouldnt like the but I can't help myself

One of the main attractions for me! Pity the SW didn't come with one :D

The first one that REALLY caught my eye was black with oxblood leather. How I lusted after that interior! Wouldn't go well with my Rosso exterior on the car I ended up with though!

FWIW my manual book says Carbon effect, Wood trim and Leather finish were all options, as were the teledials, so I'm not convinced that wood trim and lack of certain wheels would certify a car as Lusso spec? Lack of sideskirts would though. Speaking of which, mentioning tacky Halfords add-on... the glue on mine seems to be coming away in one spot - one way to distinguish them from tacky additions is to NOT use hard-as-nails in the factory to secure them

Seems all very confusing. My documents say I have a Turismo....local Alfa salesman says impossible: having looked at car he says can only be a Veloce as has every feature for that specification.
He checked with Alfa Romeo and they confirm it's correct as a Turismo...............! Did vehicles sold in late 2002 get cleared pending facelift upgrade, by downgrading the old model thus giving effect to a price reduction.

The documents for my JTS saloon said I had a 5 door running on 'heavy oil'...
