Wheeler Dealers new series

It started a few weeks ago but Virgin have royally cocked it up, flagging each episode as a repeat.

Ant Anstead is now divorced from the reality TV star he married, and has shacked up with Renee Zelweger. Mark "Elvis" Priestley has replaced him and it's back in the UK.

If you watch tonight you will see a Fiat Coupe 20v turbo which they tune to over 300bhp.

The pictures below are not from the show, they are from the workshop who got it after it was sold.

Oh dear.

Living up to the title! Never liked Ant.

Just for clarity... Was the coupe not made roadworthy because they were cutting corners, or because it was for show and they didn't actually put it on the road?
Doubt whether you will get clarity with that show. It really is a load of rubbish.
From what I can gather, it was sold with a fresh MoT and all that rust. It found its way into another workshop who have sorted out the rust.
Ouch. That's not good!

See, I like Ant Anstead. The stuff he did 'with' Phil Glenister on For The Love of Cars was great. I really liked that show.
IMHO, He was too good for WD. Not knocking Edd with that comment.... Edd was great in the role, but Ant with his own custom car company and the full restorations of For The Love of Cars, (which I perceived to be of a higher standard than Fuzz Townshend's) he could do more than the spannering work delegated by Mike Brewer.

Not seen the new fella yet, will have to wait a while before it is available to watch for free somewhere I suspect.
But I think it is good that it has returned to the UK (for the European viewers) as we can once again identify a bit more with the cars bought and sold.

But here is an idea to pitch to the executives in TV land..... How about a car restoration show that features Edd China, Ant Anstead, and Fuzz Townshend? No annoying cockney barrel (Brewer) or Grey crowned crane with stupid haircut (Shaw).

A shame Edd left the show, he was brilliant and nobody's come close since IMHO.

Looking forward to Richard Hammond's restoration show when it lands.. he seems to have sunk a fair bit of his own $$$ into it
Ant Anstead Master Mechanic was brilliant where he scratch built an Alfa 158. Anybody see that?

Looks interesting on face value but it's TV I guess.

I feel like posting R U S T in the comments section but I'll let it lie :D
To be fair to Elvis, as an ex-F1 mechanic, he's probably not used to rusty sills.
What an absolute nail!! That Mike Brewer, what a skank!!!

Did someone really pay that much for a car which will blow up? Never buy a modified Coupe; I've had nine and was warned by the best and original Coupe specialist that ring lands will break with more boost...

In fact, I've just sold my tenth Coupe, a Vinci LE, to my brother as I'm so so bored of them!!
Going to dive over to FCCUK for the low down on this.

If anyone is missing Ed, he has a great YouTube channel which has come to life in the past 4/5 months. A variety of projects. They're well filmed and edited. New episodes every Friday:

I've just started on that. Enjoying it a lot.

We get to see more of Edd's inner mad professor.

Watched the one with the white 1970's 4.2 straight six Jag XJ6 the other day.
The usual nonsense at the end when they gave the costings - apparently they made about £700 ''profit'', but didn't think to factor in many thousands of workshop time, only parts. They had to do a phenomenal amount of work on it. Brewer must be the world's worst used car salesman - probably one of the worst losses they've had!

Yes, I know it's only for TV, but still, why bother giving the figures if they're in no way realistic? A good show up to that part, but a huge fail ultimately.

It could serve as a cautionary tale for people thinking they could make a few quid by flipping a car.
It's kind of the opposite of the house shows, where the buyer makes terrible decisions about both the purchase and the work done to the house, but invariably makes money - except they usually fail to point out that they made that money purely because the market increased significantly during the time they were fannying about.

I wonder what Homes Under The Hammer conclusions will look like over the next few years?
Anyone watching the current series?
It's hard to know what's new and what's a repeat. The only clue I have is by seeing how much more lard Brewer has packed on his frame from series to series.

There's currently a run of WD: Dream Car on one of the Freeview channels which I've not seen before.
