I stripped a 2.4 159 a few weeks ago and after I drained the oil I was left with this fibre material ,. Obviously I thought it's metal but it's not or doesn't seem to be , it's not sharp or magnetic so I think it's fibre .
But what is the cause of it , is it the wrong type of oil used ?

What was the oil filter condition like, could it be from the oil filter?

.... oh thats a point i never thought of that .
I didnt check the filter it went to scrap with most of the engine ...

That does look like filter element material. Either a very old filter or a cheap rubbish one.
