The poll's back, thanks Pasi.
Anyway, which do you prefer? Always prefer coupes myself.
E-type/ MG/ Fiat Coupe/ GTV and so forth.

DOH!!!!

Damn you Mr Burns, now my 1st post looks like I'm dissing your poll

Anyway, I prefer coupes. Convertibles IMO are for more showy-off types (and Im never that cough cough...... )

:p ;)

Re: Never mind

I suppose Coupe, since most of my fave cars are coupes. But you people who are dissing convertibles, have you ever driven one?
I know it's a cliche, but that 'hair in the wind' driving feeling really is great.
However, a convertible should really be a convertible, or at least a coupe-based one.
A hatchback with it's roof chopped off is not acceptable. For a start, they always end up looking like they've got a massive fat arse.

Re: Never mind

I think "convertible" is a bit misleading.
;)
It makes you think of Beetles and those rancid French CC things and any other normal car which has had it's roof lopped off.
But if you are talking proper sports cars - is roadster too American sounding? - then that is a different cup of Yorkshire tea.
TVR Griffith, Caterham/Westfield, AC Cobra, Alfa Spider (proper one). Those are all really desirable cars and part of that appeal is the complete open air bugs in your teeth appeal. None of them would work as well with a roof on.
;)
Some cars which are available as both DHC and FHC are a little harder to separate. I've never been much of an E-Type fan myself, but something like a Lotus Elan is as desirable in either form I reckon.

I'm refering to cars which are available as coupes or convertible Jag XKR, Aston Martins and so forth. Apart from the Cobra none of the cars above were available as a coupe. So we're leaving out the Peugeot's and Merc's and so forth with the folding metal roofs and cars that are only available as convertibles.

They are still hairdresser's cars.

Albeit slightly more macho hairdressers.... armed only with clippers.... more akin to sheep-shearers than mamby-pamby "hair-designers" who wave their arms around like windmills....

....but they are still hairdressers
