Hi my gorgeous 147 has lost its cam belt, the waterpump failed and throw the belt off i am now not sure if i should have it fixed or broken for spares any advice, it done 69000 and is in mint condition

remove it head, fit a replacement head, new gasket, new timing belt kit, new water pump .... drive away

Difficult decision... Part exchange value won't be much more than the cost of repair.

Why not try an alternative... Buy a rear ended 147 or MOT failed (floor rust) 156 1.6 TS.... Make sure you get like for like, CF2 to CF2, CF3 to CF3 etc.

Get the engine and box out in one lump and swap it...
You can usually pick them up from salvage auction sites for as little as £200 nowadays... A lot of work but will be worth it in the end as you can then run the car until you decide if you want to part ex it

In fact IMHO its less hassle to do than a cam belt failure and a lot, lot cheaper:thumbs:
