Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me please what size of screws I need as replacements for the 3 screws that hold the circular top of the airbox in place are? Mine are badly corroded and I think when they come off they're not going back on again!

Oh and if anyone can advise any other screws/parts I may need it'd be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

M6 x 20mm and ( I think ) fine thread.

If you want the genuine article they're part number 16286124. They're around 40p each but you have to buy a minimum of 5. Also used on the Mito, Brera & 159 ( but not necessarily on the air cleaner ) so I don't suppose there will be any problem getting them.

There's info on here somewhere, the screws go into brass(?) inserts in the plastic below and the screws tend to rust into the inserts, On mine the screws are NOT moving even after tons of penetrating spray, seems someone else had problems because one of the sides the screw is missing and the plastic top is completely destroyed. (So I need a new air filter box :( )

One guy managed with a machine shop to clean up/replace the inserts, someone else just replaced them with bolts.

god what a nightmare this is! Eventually just took the whole assembly off to get the screws out and the bloody things came out with their casing as well! Making new casings for the screws to fit into now.

Never simple!

Hmm. After changing air filter and putting everything back where it came from it seems she has developed a poor idle. Constantly jumping from 900-1500 rpm... Any suggestions?

Will hook her up to ecuScan later but wondered if there was anything obvious I could have done?

I had that problem, the bit the screws screw into came out with as well when I changed the filter.

The solution bodge I used was to use a few cable ties through the newly created hole and make sure they were tied "really ****** tight". After some, ah, gentle persuasion, I've actually got a decent seal on the air box.

But yes, new air box required at some point

I bought slightly longer bolts and bolted it on. I filed a flat on the underside of the lip on the lower part for the nut to sit square against, then held it in place with epoxy. It's been fine since, much easier to undo.

I may be (probably am) wrong but I thought the bolts I used were m8. Then as I used all new fasteners they didn't have to be the original size.

You have an air leak in the induction system. Check the air intake hoses are secure, tight and correctly seated, after the MAF. Is the MAF secured properly?
