Was it done at a main dealer or an independent Alfa specialist?

Most Alfa Specialists will use the GTV/Spider pump for all of the applicable 24v v6, but I expect a main dealer will just follow the book and use the spec'd plastic one...

You want to think about getting it done again approx 3 years/36k in my opinion, they are usually fine for at least that length of time, if not a bit longer.

This is a lesson why NOT to go to someone that knows sod all about GTAs (ie most main dealers). The parts man who booked that waterpump out for your car wants shooting.

When i was sorting out getting the cambelt service paid for by the dealership i bought mine from i ended up paying for the metal pump as they said it was the plastic 1 they had on the computer so it was a different price....apparently. i had to pay for a few "extra's" tbh

List price:
55198358 (the GTV/Spider metal one) is £198
55198357 (all the other ones, ie plastic) is £137

So £60 difference in price.
