Hi, i recently posted a thread in the ICE section, but i would like it to be asked to just GTV owners. Basically im looking to upgrade my head unit, and it sounds stupid, but im more bothered about how it looks than the sound. Anyone want to share some pics of what they have got???

I had a crappy Philips CED320 in my previous one and managed to salvage it but the phase 3 unit which is similar to my 156 facelift unit seems to be fine, I just need to upgrade the sound making stuff so I'm planning speakers, sub, amps and capacitor. I have everything except the speakers. If I can find a decent unit then I'd be swayed too, the problem is 10 years ago ICE looked much better than what's offerd today so I'm not sure what to take. I can't find electric flip-front units anywhere, or even units that would look as good as a 10 year old VDO Dayton unit.

I must say the previous unit had USB connectivity and I have all of my 100's of CD's on micro USB cards and it was much more convenient to carry them around than to carry CD's in CD cases. What I'd look for in a head unit would be:

1. RDS
2. USB capability
3. IPOD or other connectivity (my phone could play through my previous head unit too)
4. WMV, MP3, CDA etc.
5. Good CD playback
6. sufficient RCA's (front, rear, sub) etc.
7. ISO connectors

Trying to find a good looking unit that fits the bill is quite hard!:(

Am I the only one to have found the speakers in a GTV to be wired out-of-phase from the factory?:confused:On both GTV's I've owned thus far, this was the case!

Just installed a JBL 8 inch, JBL splits, Audio Bank 1400w x 4 channel and a Sony Xplod Front Loader into my Spider. Pretty happy with the outcome....

And for those that say Alfa's shouldn't have radios.... its called the "off" button :)

Welcome to Flickr!

This is the Sony (can't remember model number off the top of my head) which is in mine. Incidentally it'll be for sale very shortly! ;)
That really suits it - great choice! The silver is an obvious hit but I also like the way the central knob ties in with the hazard flasher button.

It's possible to get a 'fascia adaptor' to fill in the rounded shape around the stereo and cover those four strange slots-for-nothing.

I decided to place functionality above good looks so I'm getting one of the awful-looking Bionicle/Mech warrior/Tron-style Sony units with the Bluetooth and the tray inside for an iPod, plus DSP features and rear-speakers-as-sub option.
