I was keen to see if I could easily add a cigarette lighter power outlet to the boot of my 2019 Giulietta Veloce. There is a blanking plug by the courtesy light. After removing the trim no suitable wires or connectors were visible. I was keen to see if I could locate the boot fusebox which the owners manual says to take to the dealer. After removing the floor lining and the soft cover over the suspension / wheel arch area I decided that the part was not fitted to my car. Again with the extra bits removed no likely wires were observed.
I had previously looked at the engine fuse box and knew there were 2 x 20A fuses, F85 and F86, fitted for the power sockets and both were live. By removing the part with all the fuses and relays attached I could see that the wires for the power socket(s) were relatively large and grey with a red stripe. No wires like that were in the boot area. The 2 black ones of a similar size are both earth wires.
For the time I had available I deemed it too much work to remove more interior parts to try and locate the termination point of the grey / red wires. I guess that the centre console power socket may have both wires to that point and will investigate further in the future. Ideally I would like to add a power socket using the existing wire and fuse for that circuit.
There are posts on the forum about some earlier cars having the wiring and connector already in place. I was hoping the loom still had the wires but that seemed to not be the case.
Searches for a wiring diagram on line proved fruitless. The engine fusebox has 8 more small fuses than are shown in the owners manual so 17 in total as well as quite a few maxi fuses. The owners manual has the positions of fuses 85 and 86 shown reversed. The diagram in the cover has them the correct way around.
The cable (zip) ties in the boot area are part of the mount that is attached to the body so do not cut them. They can be released with a very small screwdriver by lifting up the locking part.
Does anyone know what the large black wire in it's own foam sleeve that comes from under the rear seats and goes up into the roof area is? Would it be for the aerial?

My G had its 18K service today, surprisingly it's quite a bit more nippy. Also managing to get 50+ mpg on my daily commute (54 miles) now the roads are now empty, not bad for a 150hp MA.

Ok so i did something different to my G 1.4MA. I did a service now, and changed the filter (cone filter), but instead of putting at the end of the filter tubing and removing the stock box... I instead put it inside the stock box. The stock box has a lip on the inside which the stock filter grabs onto, now I've put a small adapter pipe in there and put the cone filter inside it. Then i removed the bottom plate (the 3 bolt 1 usually used to close the box) and also removed the snorkel that sucks are from the inside of the engine bay. Instead i blocked off the snorkel opening with a rubber cap from the inside. So now it only sucks are straight from the bottom of the dust cover at the base of the engine bay.

Right now she makes a lot more V6 rumble right through the Rev range (well till about 4k when the turbo whistle is at it's peak) and sounds really really meaty for a 1.4.

Anyone else did such a mod, and whats the results? I am a touch worried about hydro-lock as it is sucking from an open mouth below, but the filter is about an inch inside the box, unless i wade through water that's fog light height, i doubt i'll have a problem...

Sadly in my excitement to get it done, i didn't take any pix, but I'm sure you'll all can imagine what I've done.

Service done including box oil. These cars should carry a sticker saying "no user serviceable parts"! Was hoping to get all cleaned to seal next weekend but that'll have to wait. Service took far longer than expected.

It's self evident what's user serviceable and what's done by an authorized dealer. The things instructed in the user manual are the things the user should be able to conduct. Everything else is meant to be done by professionals.

I'm perfectly capable of doing a service thanks, generally only put my cars to a garage for MOT! Just commenting that everything on this car from taking the undertray off to changing the filters is more time consuming than on any other car I've worked on previously.

Cheers

I believe you. I myself don't mind things being more time consuming but when things like the engine air filter need to be done from under I simply don't have the place to do it so haven't been botherd with servicing the Giulietta myself.
On my 156 I did annual service checks myself and usually got a garage to do the oil changes and necessary timing belt and wishbone work etc.

During the lock down I have had plenty of time to wash the car from top to bottom. I also used Chipex to remove the odd stone chip and waxed the car with special wax for matt cars. I have also always hated the antenna so dealing with that at the moment too. Didn't fancy a shark fin so went for a 6cm replacement. To remove the logo should I paint it gloss black or matt, black? Bumper paint to match the plastic base or anthracite grey to match wing mirrors/door handle and wheels?
