It’s not just the clips, or wasn’t on those I did a while back, GTV seats going into a Spider, the seat frame has a welded on bracket to accommodate the clips. Have a look before doing anything drastic. But there’s a ‘work around’.

Issues with the windshield wiper spray today. The pump doesn’t activate when you pull the stalk. First I thought the pump is toast. When you operate the windshield wipers I.e. turn them on, they work. The pump and the windshield wipers use the same fuse so that rules out the fuse. New pump is less than a fiver from Autodoc. Get that and put it in. Even managed to save most of the wiper fluid.
Test it.
Nothing. No sound from the pump and I notice that the windshield wipers don’t operate when you try to activate the pump. Pretty sure they should.
So now I’m thinking there is an issue with the switch on the steering column.

I guess I’ll take it to Kevin for a diagnosis and fix in the next few weeks. Before summer rolls around it needs to work properly. Also, it wont pass an MOT without a working windscreen washer. Drat.

Removed the wings to have a look at the condition underneath. Bit of bubbling around the area where the wing bolts on at the bottom, so I'll attack it with a drill and wire wheel to see if it's just surface rust or worse.

Bit worse under the passenger side arch. That will definitely need welding:

I assume there's no purpose for the spongey/rubber material that's visible through the hole at the top (not pictured as already removed when I took the photos) other than sound deadening? If so, I'm going to leave it out as it seems like it could be a moisture trap.

Fuel filler flap finally snapped off when I put some fuel in to bring the car out of hibernation (hence the dust).
Decided to cut some channels into the two parts and epoxy in some metal rods to provide support and we'll see how it goes. It it seems to work long term then I'll clean it up properly and paint to hide. Seems to be a common failure point but there doesn't seem to be any replacement parts available.

Refitted the filler flap and it's working perfectly. Happy with the extremely cheap fix...but holy hell the filler flap release spring is way too powerful, it's little wonder these things fatigue then snap. I removed the spring and crushed it slightly in the vice and it made a world of difference. Now it gently pops open instead of launching like a catapult.

Got round to sorting the bouncing locks on the Spider… tried the simple fix first and squirted WD40 in the locks etc. Used the key and the fob a few times and it seems to have done the trick. Sorted in 10 minutes without removing the door card… result!

I haven't posted on here before so i have a bit of catching up to do, i have had my 2001 V6 24v Spider since 2016 and the list of improvements go something like this :
17 inch Enzo Wheels
Replaced cracked sill covers and full respray
330 front discs with Ferodo 2500 pads
Alfaholics front pipes, sport cat and centre section, Raggazzon straight through rear section already on car when i bought it.
Collected yesterday with Alfaholics handling kit and Koni street shocks fitted.

I can't take credit for any of the work my skills with a spanner are very limited but Bianco Auto Developments have great in the 18 years i have used them.

Washed it and did a few little jobs in teh afternoon. Best thing was swapping over the side indicator repeaters to clear as the bright orange on a silver car has always jarred with me. Was going to change steering wheels over whilst mine gets sent away for retrim but chickened out due to going dark in 3 hours time!

Got my blower motor and HVAC controls working again, seemed two fuses had blown #13 and the 30A rear demistor.

I’d advise owners to take a look at their 30A fuse as mine looked nasty, had melted itself close in the circuit whilst still allowing the demistor to work.

Duplicated this news as thought it could save someone’s 916 from pain

There’s a modification for that which prevents meltdown of the fuse on the board. It needs a relay, connectors, wires and a mount for the relay. I did the mod on my GTV before any problem arose.

Found a soul destroying discovery - the brake servo on my brother's RHD Spider has failed. Dash out, steering column out, pedal box out is bad enough, but worse is that is the complete non-availability of new servos. For the average owner who relies on a garage to maintain their cars, this could be a 916 death knell.
