Many of the models on here have a ''What did you do to your .......today'' thought it might be interesting here for our beloved 916s.

I'll start the ball rolling.

I have a Busso Spider and she was due an annual service:

1. Changed the oil and filter
2. Put a foam Pipercross (lifetime) filter in to replace the old paper job.
3. Flushed out and replaced the coolant
4. Replaced the thermostat. For sometime I thought that she didn't run hot enough, particulalrly noticeable in the winter months. And sure enough the 'stat was open very slightly, about 3 mil. She now warms up quicker and runs hotter.

All in all a good days work :)

GTV in for Quaife, flywheel and GTA clutch at Auolusso Penrith. One of those days where you wish you'd had it with you - abundant sunshine, spotting a new Guilia for the first time, another 916 GTV and an Alfetta GTV in the space of 1 hour. Non worthy of a wave when driving the KIA family wagon. :grumpy:
I must confess they are ''improvements'' that are on my to do list; they will have to wait a bit unless the clutch begins to slip.

Well technically yesterday - collected from MoT. Passed! That's three years on the bounce with no work required! Had to do a bit of fettling of the brakes before taking it in as it has been sat for a few months.

Currently thinking on jobs to do over Easter:

Oil and filter change
Coolant change
Wax it
Investigate rattly cat

Oh yes and drive it somewhere - only did about 400 miles last year!

Next main job will be de-rust and treat the suspension bits and check sills.
That's not enough miles - must do better as many of my teachers used to say.

Today I built the boot rack and in spite of the slightly hard to follow Italian instructions I managed to assemble the rack and get it on the car without a) having any parts leftover, always a bit worrying when there are bolt/screws and nuts remaining and b) without scratching the car, always a bonus :)

Just over one week to go and we'll be heading east to Hull not to enjoy the it's cultural delights, if there are any, but to get on board the overnight ferry to Zeebrugge and then onwards to Italy.

I have just returned from our Italian road trip and we had a super time. The Spider was pretty damn good with just a couple of glitches along the way (well it is an Alfa after all). Firstly the engine management light came on and then went off. And towards the end of the holiday on the journey home the plastic cog that operates the hood cover disintegrated, I moved it round but it made no difference. I have ordered a metal replacement and look forward to fitting that soon; that should future proof that part of the hood mechanism.

Finally put it all back together after replacing s clutch master cylinder. A job I will never do on a 916 again, ever  I started early June and finished last Sunday.
I had problems and I had enthusiasm issues. Thankfully it is just a plaything and was not required for anything. The summer has also been quite ****.
Needs a wash and polish (inside clean) and hopefully an MOT.
If it fails the MOT it'll be going for scrap and I shall never visit a 916 again

PS It better not fail the MOT.
I am familiar with those emotions; but I'm afraid that when you drive her in the sunshine down ''one of those'' roads you will be smitten again.

Refitted the side skirt (o/s) large chunk of the sill had surface rust, that was ground down, treated and painted.
New fittings for the screws along the bottom and a couple of new for the side.

I then thought what the heck, it's a beautiful day I shall go home in her, obviously topless, stereo on full and smiled all the way through the city.
A ''how to remove the sideskirts'' would be very helpful ;)

Good luck. Mine passed with only a couple of advisories. Time to get on with the jobs I know need doing.
Thank you. She passed with a couple of advisories; so all in all quite pleased. A slight gas leak on the exhaust system; could this be the excuse to go and get a wizard system made up?:thinking:

I fitted some red leather seats in my silver Spider replacing the black seats. I do rather like red and silver combo. I just want to fit the red inserts into the door cards now and red mats. Needless to say that the airbag light is now on and refuses to reset (passenger pre tensioner squib).

As I mentioned in an earlier post when I fitted new seats into my Spider I had the dreaded ''airbag warning light'' glowing and mocking me. I have access to a code reader and I got the airbag fault P000c which is ''passenger pre-tensioner''. I rewired the contacts checked the continuity and everything was ok; but it would not reset.

I was scanning the 'net and some bright spark (not TS ;) btw) said that in a RHD car our passenger seat is an Italian drivers seat. So when I changed my focus to the drivers seat I found a fault and the warning light has now been successfully reset. Hope this will be useful for one or two of us.
