Say for instance there was no alfa romeo (perish the thought! ) what else would you choose to drive?
Its a difficult one but I would prob choose an Astra GTC as its quite a stylish one for a Vauxhall or if going for something older maybe a Porsche 944, always liked these.
Your thoughts? although for those who run 2 cars, one non alfa, question answered

Maserati or Vantage. Possibly a Cayman.

Erm.....

A Saab NG900 2.0T probably. Or maybe an XJ6.

Maserati if money was no object.

Probably a Volvo otherwise. They're not up with Alfa in driving fun, but I think their design is good.

@DaveB, yeah the DS3 is nice, but it's too small a car for me and the larger DS models don't do it for me at all...

I'd have another Jaguar ... I really like the XJ ... but a more practical car like a Discovery 4 ... I also quite like new Jeep Renegade. I'm sticking with my shabby old Fiat Doblo until it expires ... If Alfa have a Giulia out by then then I may be tempted by that.

Some people are already in this situation by default because there simply isn't an Alfa product available which appeals or perhaps more pertinently is appropriate :(

Totallly agree.

But there are plenty of interesting cars from other marques to choose from.

However it is no good saying that if you couldn't have an Alfa you would have a Ferrari or an Aston Martin etc, as they are not comparable cost wise.

This is the crux of the matter.

147/GT alternative: Leon SC ?
159 Alternative: CLA (Over budget I think)

The XJF is quite a bit more expensive than 159 ever was, surely? Certainly the Irish pricing (starting at €44,000) is 25~30% more than 159 or its class competitors (A4, S60 and 3series start around €33,000).

But I won't be surprised if Alfa's new models end up priced somewhere between Audi and Jaguar. You can't get something for nothing.

I'm working from memory here but I think a 2.2D XF is available at about £30k, allowing for inflation and the fact that spending £30k on a Giulietta is possible I reckon one could argue a 159 might get to a similar level. Certainly from a leasing perspective they'd be very close.

Sadly, very true:( I'd even be taken by a three door Coupe G QV TCT or a MiTo QV TCT with a better quality interior.
