Took the G for a service today and was told that the air filter was wet when it came off. Is the compartment which holds the filter supposed to be watertight?

It's mounted quite low down but fording must be basic test. I hope so based on the road conditions yesterday!

if a diesel, the filter could have oil on it

it's been wet enough over here at least....

Have you examined the filter as that should tell a lot.

The water has either come in via induction tube (you should really know if you've driven through deep water!) or someone didn't seal the filter assembly properly (or maybe it's damaged?)
