Hi Guys

I've been a happy GT owner for just over a year now but have one problem with the car that has plagued me since day 1 - the fan on the climate control system is super weak.

It seems to work fine in terms of temperature, but blows so weakly that it is pointless in the heat of summer. I have checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. Turning the fan up and down does increase/decrease its strength, but even when cranked up to full blast it's very limp.

Any ideas for a quick fix? Or is this normal fair for the GT and something I just need to live with (like the audio volume reset issue)?

Some newer cars have a blower resistor, which affects fan speed, I'd check that first, it's less than £20 to replace in most cases.

Does it make a noise other than the usual air noise? This could point to bearings

Methinks the pollen filter is the first thing to check. I'm battling to find a good guide to removing/replacing the filter though. Tried Google and searched the forum - tons of threads suggesting it but can't seem to locate any guides.

Help would be welcome.

Also, someone has recommended throwing out the filter altogether, instead of bothering with replacing it. Good advice?

Not done it myself but I've been told by two different specialists that it's a pain in the backside to do and you need to bend backwards in the passenger footwell to get at it (it's behind the glovebox).

For that reason, it is often ignored when a service is carried out - to the detriment of the climate control system when it becomes blocked. I wouldn't remove it altogether.
