informally tested few weeks back and ok but failed mot - has only been driven 5 miles a day for months and always cold - other than 'italian tune up' any decent additives work? - removing air filter help?

Having some engine work done in a few weeks and dont want to rev past 3k beforehand to 'clear cat' - mot chap confident will pass with a little encouragement - oil and plugs overdue but again dont want to change before engine work - so additives and long runs appear only options?

headlamp adjustment?

offside light set too low for mot - servo appears to work ok, however the reference starting position is too low - how do i adjust that? - The vertical plastic 'adjuster?' with screw top appears seized and doesnt move when light goes up and down from switch either

Italian tune up, get it very hot.

New oil makes a big difference for the first few hundred miles. An oil change is £35, so not exactly extortionate.

Showing any lambda sensor codes at all?

I work in an MOT station and cars used for short journeys nearly always need to run harder and longer to get them really hot before they pass emissions most need a full cat test to pass. Fuel cleaners are no substitute for fresh oil plugs and filters
