Hi all. Changed my oil in June and thought i'd give Castrol GTX magnatec a try. It was quieter when i started it up and ran smoother so i was pleased with it. The best thing though is it seems to have slowed my oil loss considerably. My 156 used to drop 1/2 the min max range on the dipstick every 3 weeks (800 miles), now it drops the same every 2 months, so seems to have slowed it down.

Don't know because it was the first service i've done on it, but the 36000 service was done by an Alfa stealer because it was also a waranty check so your guess would be a good as mine

It can't be bad if it's reducing oil consumption. Just as long as it's the right grade. ;)

I'd say that the oil grade is likely to be what slowed the leak, not the make.
What grade have you used?

Recommended oil for the 1.8 156 is Selenia 20k (which is is 10w40) so that should be fine.
