Hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction.

Recently I have been getting an intermittant motor control system warning, When it happens the rad fan constantly stays on and temperature gague stays at 0.
When I check the code on Fiat ECUscan, it states Water/coolant Temperature Sensor Failue.

I can reset the code and its ok for about a week (temp gague working and fan kicking in when it should) then during start up one morning it comes on again.

Looking at other posts it sounds like the temperature sensor on the side of the thermostat which I am going to order, would you all agree or do you think I need a new thermostat as well?

On the motorway temp usually sits around 80ish.

I have a 2003 147 2.0ts, so would anyone know which sensor to get as I understand they have different pins?

One last question if I have to replace just the sensor do I have to remove the thermostat or can it be done whilst its attached to the mainfold?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

pull out the connector, clean the contacts & see how it goes, perhaps you'll need a new sensor, perhaps its a wiring issue
