Event : WASH 'N' WAX FOR WINTER

An opportunity to get your bella ready for winter, whether it be to get that extra layer of wax on ahead of the ravages of the coming season or to prepare it for garaging until the sun appears again.

Eastern Western Motor Group, in the form of John Forret (johnnytheboy on here) their Bodyshop Manager, have very kindly extended an invitation to us to have the use of their facilities in the PDI centre - car washing, indoor valeting and vehicle hoists - for a social get-together with a practical twist. Bacon butties, a brew and a brain teaser or two will be included, with staff on hand to answer (hopefully) any queries you might have. A demonstator from motor and marine trade supplier Farecla will also be present to show their 4 stage paint protection product, G3, which has just been newly launched on the retail market. http://www.farecla.co.uk/#

I saw round the facilities last year when I was unfortunately a customer of their repair shop (twice) and was very impressed with the set-up. The Porsche Owners Club and the Ferrari Owners Club amongst others must be of a similar mind as they have a similar event as a regular fixture in their calendars.

So no matter whether you have an OCD like me (and M7ACD) and think nothing of spending a whole day buffing your bella, or simply want to throw a bucket of water in its general direction and spend the rest of the day leaning on the coffee machine engaged in Alfa-talk (or anywhere in between these two extremes), then this is the event for you. Eastern Western are very keen to promote stronger links with the Alfa community so let's try and respond with a good turn-out on the day.

I have way way too much car cleaning stuff and keep buying more mostly online, its usually from detailing websites reading about products I cant resist buying, but dont get enough chance to use.
One problem is the weather is either too hot or too wet to have a chance to really spend time doing a polish or wax etc......only having a driveway and no shelter.
Having a chance to use a big indoor space would be great before the winter.

Some of the credit should go to CraigM. He had his car in there recently and was treated to the guided tour where mention was made of the car club detailing days. When he mentioned it to me, my few remaining grey cells (old age doesn't come easy, ) recalled the conversation I'd had with John way back in May last year. A few PMs to and fro, a chat at Hopetoun and a couple of phone calls later, here we have it.

Yes, but I also know that Meguires Gold wax is bloody hard work so I may be talked in to supporting the rebirth of slavery :eyebrow:

Unfortunately we won't be able to use their buffers. There could be liability issues if one of us were to damage our car whilst using them, not to mention the implications to their workshop's throughput if the equipment were to be damaged and put out of action.

However the services of a demonstrator from Farecla, a supplier of paint finishing products to the motor and marine industries, have been secured to show us the capabilities of their G3 product which has recently been made available to the retail market. So you never know Frank, maybe you could offer your car as a 'guinea pig' and get the job done for you, .

I never got a tour and I've "visited" them 3 times. All I get is "haven't you been here before but with a different car?"

Last time I went up to see about my dodgy door that was to be fixed by warrenty (still wating on word about it lol) the guy mentioned it. Said they had the Porsche folk up and they opened the valet bit up. Would be good to follow in the footsteps of David and get the wheels properly cleaned and waxed.

Don't think we need to bring shampoo etc, but deffo wax & polish. David will put us right!

Not daft at all. There will be limited supplies of materials 'on site' (and you could always try and offer your car for the trade demonstrator to practice on, :lol but probably best to take the potions you know and trust in any case. If you're like me, I'm uber-particular about what goes anywhere near my bella.
