Nothing to do with battery, I had the same problem in the summer with mine and got it fixed. No one else has seemed to get a permanent fix for this problem apart from me.
I took it to the garage and they said injector 1 was faulty so they fixed it, I got the car back the next morning and it was back in the garage that evening with the same problem.
They sent the car up to Alfa Romeo for them to have a look at it and the problem is now fixed. Not too sure what they said was wrong but it was something to do with the wiring on the injectors and they had to order a new part from alfa that has apparently been designed to stop this problem. I think it was a full new wiring loom for injectors.

So take it up to the garage and see what they say, even if they give Donnelly Alfa in Northern Ireland a call they might be able to help. No idea how much it would cost and mine is under warranty!!

Thats the only fix so dont waste money on trying other things.

Hope this helps.

Hi all appreciate this is an old post but my 159 jtdm 07 plate has just gone through the whole shabang, EML light, ABS, ASR, VDC, hill hold, and fuel gauge flipping between ¾ then zero. Turned the engine over this morning and struggled to start at all (did eventually with lots of encouragement). Battery checked and kicking out well over 12V, close to 14 with heater and lights so seems ok. The fuel gauge stuck at empty tho, but I've got over half a tank in there?!
I'm happy to clean injector connections but taking them out probably out of my skill set. Any additional advice greatly appreciated.

PS. I've been using Wynn's system cleaner because I kept getting the EML light for egr issue. Is that part of the problem?

PPS. Generally do around town miles with occasional longer motorway trips so probability of soot build up high... Hence the system cleaner.

Thanks

Hi all,
Follow up to my last post. Egr has been treated via a spray (didn't have a deep 10mm socket to undo the final bolt on egr housing, for a manual clean). Injector connectors cleaned which inadvertantly cleared the EML for about 10 mins (long enough to get my hopes up and dashed straight after). MAF sensor given a clean too (just because I had the electrical cleaner in hand).
Car definitely in limp mode. Fuel gauge stuck on empty even though over half a tank in there. Any advice before I end up giving the garage a call Monday, greatly appreciated! (Having spent upwards of a grand on her just this year... Rapidly losing patience 😢)
Cheers

Your first post talks about all the warning lights and you know all those systems can't be failing! So back to the Battery which you also know was not cranking over properly.
So if you are sure that the battery is perfect then you are chasing that well known earth problem.

Thanks for the reply!
Battery output is 12.4v car off, running kicks out close to 14v, which is the reason I think the battery is in "good" condition (never say perfect ;))
"Well known earth problem"(?)
-ve terminal to car body is sound, no rust (bit of dirt) is there any other earth points I need to investigate?
Cheers

Further update... Have now cleaned down egr. It was indeed sooty but I've seen worse. Reassembled, car went into limp mode immediately. Xmas lights, fuel gauge to zero.
Called the garage too and suggestion was to engage a dpf regen. Ran the old girl at 50mph in 3rd (couldn't get above 3000rpm due to limp mode) but a good 25 mins worth, no change.
Awaiting new injector connectors then a bit of soldering will be last resort. Any other ideas I'm all ears!

Have you had it on a diagnostic ?

I had similar faults, dish read as though throttle pedal was faulty - got another, same issue

Took it to my local Alfa specialist (northern Alfa) after diagnosis it was a loose connector into ecu

Fuel gauge to zero proves you have a battery/earth problem. Try putting a jump lead from the battery to the engine block.

Rechecked battery. 12.6V off. 13.9V stable running. Cleaned the earth cable, no difference. There's no second earthing cable to alternator/engine block that I can see. Jumped battery to engine block and that did nothing either.
I've new injector connectors that I'll solder on but that'll be tomorrow.
Thanks for advice tho

Not taken out for diagnostic yet, booked in for a service next week at a local garage but wanted to try to solve ahead of that but no luck so far.

Update: new injector connectors arrived. I've replaced the first 3. Injector connector 1, no difference made. Injector connector 2, no difference made. Injector connector 3, first start no warning lights, EML still there but running ok. Took it for a quick drive all seems ok. Just returned from trip into town and now the EML light has worked off no issues, all good! Thanks for all your help guys 😊
