Welcome to the forum, a very good choice of car. Be careful, there are a lot 'Brera Prodrives' out there which are not. Some do have some of the genuine bits on, but not everything, others are regular Brera's which have been 'Prodrived'. Red shows the lovely lines of the Brera much better than black by the way.

Thanks. Yes I had noticed those Breras passed off as Prodrives. I am tracking one for sale but the mileage is a tad
high. And the price. I had originally set my mind on red, but have come to the conclusion that I now prefer black.
The one colour that does not work well with the Brera bodyshape is white!

The Prodrive was only available in red, black or met grey, never white.
My old Brera.

Black has its merits too!

Depending on where you’re based, Love Alfa in Smethwick are very good and usually have a few tidy Prodrives available.

Thank you. Yes I am well familiar with LoveAlfa - good setup, just down the road from me. Went to test drive a Brera S couple of years ago but despite fab handling, mileage was a bit high. Sat on my hands, hence still looking. They picked up then sold a rare white Brera (non Prodrive) with red leather interior recently, hence observations about white being dubious for for Brera bodyshape (imho).

Anyone got any observations about Brera Italia Independente 1750 TBi handling vs S Prodrive ? A neighbour round the corner has a lovely red 159 1750TBi, now remapped to 225bhp & raves about the power delivery. The downside for the Brera is that pesky matt titanium finish which albeit looks great, marks easily.

Still looking...

TBi Breras are very rare, there are only around 50 in the country. They won’t have the handling of the Prodrive either as the setup is bespoke to the Prodrive models themselves. You can now, however, get hold of remanufactured versions of the Prodrive springs and shocks from PCA Dynamics, so there is that option if you were going to take that route.

Ah. Thanks, the rarity I was aware of. The TBis are lighter I think. LoveAlfa warned about the matt titanium finish as a headache to retouch. But I would still prefer the Prodrive setup. (Sorry shdve put this in tech & vehicle section, I did search "Brera TBi vs Prodrive" but no returns. All grist to mill.....)

Maybe marginally, due to the smaller capacity engine, but I wouldn’t think much, certainly not noticeably anyway. The matte paint is a bit marmite and tricky to look after, you could get the TBis in normal colours but as I say it’s just finding one! It will definitely be easier finding a good Prodrive.

I picked up a black S drive with 106k mileage. Few issues, did have crank sensor error and has had recent timing chain change done by a none specialist. Booked in with local Alfa specialist for once over before start driving it.
