I am hoping some alfa hydraulic oil will solve the problem of my gearbox not working but had a question regarding levels etc.

If i check the level from scratch it seems ok, but I gather i should let the pump stop working before checking.

If i open the door the pump fires up, then i turn the key to MAR and move the gears around a bit as well to get the pump to start and stop.

If i then check the oil level it is almost completey gone.

So the question is do i fill it after the pump has worked or when engine is cold?

there are a good few sele's running round with additional catch bottles having seen such pics, they work well, top it up to the max and if its too much it ends up in the bottle. You must have a vent in the cap though, otherwise a vacuum will be created at best deforming the bottle if plastci or worse affecting the performance of the sele pump.

It isn't.
You are looking at a baffle plate halfway down the tank, you are not looking at the bottom of the tank.
