I had a 2013 Fiat 500 diesel, average mpg was around 55mpg if I hoofed it. On a feather foot I managed once to get a tank average of 99.8mpg, that was mainly up and down the M5 to see my daughter with cruise control set at 65mph.

my 09 mito 1.4 non turbo was returning 43 to 48 mpg
i would hope it would be around 52 58 mpg

59 reg getting 38 mpg my petrol 1.4 could get average 45mpg

thats good im getting 38 mpg thought 1.3 jtdm would be nearer 60mpg

Does the 1.3 have a DPF? That might be blocked. Or the EGR might be clogged up, or worn injectors maybe?

I didn't think the 2009 model had a dpf, my Fiat 500 didn't and that was 4yrs younger.

Dpfs have been mandatory in most uk diesels sicne about 2009 I think, most new cars introduced from 2006/7 would have likely had them.

I didn't think it was actually needed on the 1.3jtd because it exceeded Euro 5 without it anyway.

There is a thread here with stuff about a diesel alfa that had a horribly clogged EGR, look it up. I don't remember if that had any effect on mpg, but checking it out won't hurt.

cleaned dpf dpf light went out also added dpf cleaner in fuel mpg up too 41.8 and still rising still got engine check light on fitted new fuel rail sensor as well and fitting crank sensor tomorrow.will up date as i go

tried too but failed to replace my crank sensor today cant find it

todays mpg up to 52 well pleased
still not starting correctly still got crank
sensor to change hope this will clear engine
light and starting problem
