Morning all,

My brother has just picked up his 156 this morning, its a 2000 (X) reg 1.6ts, CF2?

the question is does it have a variator or not because I thought the 105bhp engine didn't? or is it the 120bhp,

the reason being, for a couple of seconds it sounds like a diesel, so im assuming its the variator but im not sure if it even has one.....

Thanks in advance.....

Just check the engine code under the bonet. Ar32104 is the 120. Also the red line on the rev counter on the 120 is 7000rpm. The 105 is 6500rpm. He probably has the 120 I'd say.

Yeah that's just a worn variator, no need to worry about it tillthe next belt, unless the noise becomes constant. At the next oil change tell him to switch to 5w-30, it'll quieten it quicker.
