Hi guys

I have a V6 GTV and have been having a problem with acceleration. I have been referring to this excellent website for advice and have learnt lots about the car but this is a bit annoying now.
I am considering getting a diagnostic lead but am not great with tech

Car is great, by far the best car I have ever owned and wont get rid until I can afford either an evo or a mazzer . Ever since I got her she has had a flatspot at 3 to 4000 revs. As I have stated in a recent post I have unplugged the MAF sensor but still doing it, worse under load and gets worse when more people in car. It feels like a fuel blockage sometimes but doesn't always do it, though it has got worse recently. Earlier today I was sitting at lights and I revved and exhaust popped at around 3500 revs, unspent fuel. Could it just be knackered plugs? Think I will check them anyway before I do anything. How do you check coil packs incidentally?
I know it could be several things but just wanted to share on here to see if anyone else has had similar probs. Oh and I have checked inlet hose and doesn't seem to have split but will take it out tomorrow and have a better look.
Thanks for your help.

Quick update

Took one of plugs out, nearest the airbox, and smells of coolant. Yellow staining on nut as well as insulation, and white crust on bolt. Also spotted some oil sticking to inside of expansion tank. Have used a little water lately and been quite smokey but put it down to cold weather. Only very small amount though. No water in oil and no overheating, underheating if anything.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi all

Just changed plugs and She is running sweeter but still bit of a flat spot. I have been reading on CATs and think it may need changing as it is rusty and smells and rattles. Apparently that can affect Lambda so poor running. Found a CF2 replacement on buypartsbuy for £65 so will order that.
I also sprayed linkages with WD40-clutch is a lot smoother. Amazing Stuff WD-40!

Did you take the intake hose out to havce a good look at it? Even the smallest split can cause problems, mine had splits on the underside. Same goes for the intake runners.

How is the service history on the car? Could it be that the air filter or something needs changed?

Cats obviously don't last for ever but could be an expensive way of tracing a problem if you have to keep changing parts

Hi

I did have a look at the intake hose but maybe I should take a closer look. The car has quite a bit of history but I think just recently, prior to me buying it it had not been serviced for a while.
Thanks for your reply

Thanks, I will give him a ring and see if he can take a look at it. I know a bit about cars but this is a bit more specialist
