Dear Alfa Gurus...

After reading almost all the posts about selespeed problems, I have recognized that mine (Alfa 156, 1999y, 156.000km)Selespeed pump brushes have already wore out, because pump sometimes work and sometimes not (I mean sound of pump).

I have tried to replace relay 30A but it does not help.. I have read that 50A will be also good, but I can;t replace 50A into 30A (Deasel Heater) place and can;t also find it anywhere to buy? anu advices what kind and which A will be most good for Selespeed pump?

Another issues : I am going to change brushes on Sele pump but I don;t know what kind of pump brushes I have to buy? is it special Alfa Romeo or what kind? anu sizes?
Can you also tell where Sele pump is situated and how to easily replace brushes? after replacing brushes does it need re-calibration or not ?

I know that changing pump will be more easily but I can;t find it in stores here in Georgia...

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best , David

I heard that brushes from Audi windscreen wiper motor are the same as in the selespeed pump. You have to remove the battery to get at the pump, recalibration is a good idea . My sele has done 121000 km so I am very cautious with it and listen to any weird noises.

thanks rarebear for quick reply, wish your selespeed long and good life..:))

do you know anything about relay? which is better to place 30A or 50A? as standard it was 30A on mine...

Is it difficult to change brushes on pump? and is it pump difficult accessible, i.e. can i do it myself or I need alfa specialist?

thanks..

30A ,
for a smart DIY person, it is not that difficult, my advice is to take the pump apart, take the worn brushes out and go to the VAG dealer and buy the exact same parts.
