I have a 159 2.0 jtdm 170

Driving along to day everything seemed ok. had a bit of hesitation around 1500rpm pulling away from the lights but nothing to bad. THEN engine light came on car has no power turbo boost gone right down to less than a 1/4 even when floored.

Got home stuck it on ecu scan and got The code P2563 Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor. Fault present.

Where is this. How can i check it. how bad it this. I am have to drive up north on Friday any ideas what the repair might be.

Have you checked it's not just the inter cooler hose come off?

Its very easy to remove the air feed pipe to the turbo on the 2.0 170 and have a feel of turbo, see if its knackered or not. Could quite easily be something simple, but turbo failure is not unheard of on there, I have changed a few in the last year.

this could be anything from boost leak, to stuck egr, maf or map sensor playing up, sticky VNT..etc etc..

you need to get it to a good specialist who will go through all the usual suspects and track down the issue...could cost anything from £40 -£1000 ,chances are its a simple thing though as turbo's are quite simple really and reliable in their operation, it's almost always a sensor , boost leak ,egr or vnt actuator vac hose.

Hi guys thanks for the replys

I have had a poke around the turbo spins ok (although there was a bit of oil on the in let pipe)the rod moves up and down. If i pull of the small blue pipe vac pipe with the engine running the rod moves. The plug the goes onto the unit just below the pipe is clean and secure. Cant see any other pipes loose. Where is the intercooler pipe that might come off? Is the sensor the one on the bottom of the rod actuator can i buy this seperatly?

I can only speak from experience of a 1.9jtdm. Inter cooler pipe is as wide as a drain pipe and usually comes off under the front bumper (off side I think). Mine popped of under acceleration and symptoms are as you describe.
Get your hands under and wiggle those pipes ??

Ok first off massive thanks to you all for your help. Through luck or judgment after 4 hours trying, the fault has gone and the car is ok but i have 2 more questions now.

After going through all the turbo side of things in desperation i tried to clean the egr. I started undoing the 2 torx bolts on the egr but coolant started pouring out so i did them back up. then tried to undoe the 4 small screws on the black plastic bit . no joy there either. ended up getting the small exhaust pipe type thing off and spray carb cleaner everywhere put it all back and crossed my fingers. Car started on the 5 try and was a ok.
So 2 questions

1 .How do i clean the egr properly what bit do i takeoff as i suspect i have made a temporary fix.
2. What has the egr got to do with the turbo . why did i have a turbo fault code for an egr fault.
