1,039 new Alfas were registered in the UK in May, down from 1,313 in April, but up a massive 89% on the same month last year.

Fiat sold 3,104 cars, down 24% on last year.

Chrysler sold just 37, Jeep managed 200, and Maserati 31.

VW group managed to sell a total of 32,137 cars in May, and as a point of interest are currently rumoured to be considering buying Opel/Vauxhall should GM try to sell it again.

Well I can - sort of - see why Jeeps can hold an appeal to some people. However, in today's economic climate, adding in vast dollops of badge snobbery/finance and servicing deals, why people would go to Jeep in that number over East Asian manufacturers and Land Rover?

I suppose it's important they do well, as they'll be providing the oily bits for the forthcoming Maser SUV and the Alfa crossover.
