Just a quick update for you. I have got a update for the NaviServer. It is still not fully hacked (meaning full postcode / speedcam / AVR) but it is working with full navigation and TMC, it works a bit quicker too.
The old one was 9.10.2.33x (from v14 software) and the new one is 9.10.32.68 (from v17 software). It is in the "Z Tools" folder for those that want it.

As always, download, extract to USB with swdl.iso, plug in and say no on the update prompt.

OK, as I asked in the PM, what files did you use, and can you send me the txt files from the USB?

Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk
all is well. First start this morning :)
It contains the latest poi and speecams??

Thanks a lot for your help.

This is a cross post form the uConnect 6.5 firmware update topic.

Disclaimer: I can not be held responsible for any damages to your uConnect, Car or your hair falling out from running this modification.
That being said, if you do have a problem please contact me and I will see if I can help you fix it.

For all those people still on v17.07.55 or older uConnect 6.5 firmware I offer you a “jailbreak”, you can now update your maps to the latest versions (currently offering 2018Q3 in my pack). I have to warn you though, the process can take a lot of time!

For those of you who have updated your uConnect to v17.35.41 or v18, I am still working on how to update those, FCA / Alfa changed the locks with that update!

For a Full EU update, if you follow my instructions fully, it will take approx. 4hours during which time your uConnect must remain powered on. This time can be greatly reduced by only updating the country or countries you need, or if you are feeling brave, skipping Step 1.

Files / Items needed:
uConnect 6.5 running v17 or older firmware -Now support Fiat and Jeeps too!
At least 8gb USB Drive ***preferably with a flashing led light so you can see file access***
Files from
https://mega.nz/#F!kURhTCbJ!uJhKPMyGiESbvQSDb33CvQ

Stage 1 – Backup your files

Prep:
Download:
1 Magic -Alfa pre UPD.zip -For Alfa
1 Magic -Fiat & Jeep pre UPD.zip -For Fiat / Jeep
2 Backup.zip

Process
1. Download and expand “1 Magic.zip” and “2 Backup.zip”
2. Copy the content onto the root of the USB drive
3. Start car and let uConnect boot up (wait approx 5min for full boot up)
4. Plug in and WAIT, the uConnect will not appear to be doing anything but if you are using a USB with a light you should be able to see it flashing with file activity
5. After some time, in my case it took 1h25 to complete this stage, it should popup a window about there is a update that you MUST answer NO to
6. Pull USB, and power cycle the uConnect*

After that you now have a backup of all the system and map files we are going to change on your uConnect.
KEEP THEM SAFE!
Either use a second USB for stage 2, save the backup folder to your computer or if your like me and use a 16gb USB stick you can leave it where it is.

I have now uploaded copies of the official EU Map Packs from (A) 2013, 2015 and 2017 that should function as a backup or official upgrade for anybody needing them.

Stage 2 – Modify your uConnect

Prep:
Download:
1 Magic.zip --You should already have this if you completed Stage 1
D EU Custom 2018 HNEU2018Q3.zip --Full EU
Or
D UK Custom 2018 HNUK2018Q3.zip --UK Only
D FR Custom 2018 HNFR2018Q3.zip --France Only
D DE Custom 2018 HNDE2018Q3.zip --Germany Only
D IT Custom 2018 HNIT2018Q3.zip --Italy Only
***There will be other country only update packs soon***
Or
A EU 2013 Original NQEU2012Q4.zip --Stock 2013 Maps, Original EU Release
A EU Update 2015 HMEU2014Q2.zip --Going back to stock with 2015 Maps
A EU Update 2017 HMEU2015Q4.zip --Newest Original Map files released 2017

Process
1. Download and expand “1 Magic.zip” and “D XX Custom 2018 HN….zip”
2. Copy the content onto the root of the USB drive
3. Start car and let uConnect boot up (wait approx. 5min for full boot up)
4. Plug in and WAIT, the uConnect will not appear to be doing anything but if you are using a USB with a light you should be able to see it flashing with file activity
5. After some time, depending on “D” file used - If country only pack approx. 15min if full EU then approx. 2h, it should popup a window about there is a update that you MUST answer NO
6. Pull USB, and power cycle the uConnect*

If all gone well you will now have a uConnect 6.5 with updated maps!

As I am sure you can understand, there are still some little bugs to work out;
UK postcodes > Only 5 digit search
UK Speedcam > Not working at all
Anything else… you tell me

The UK postcode problem frustrating but workable as it the current lack of speedcams – my uConnects speedcam database was so out of date that it was nearly useless anyway. On a plus note I now have fully working TMC in the UK and France!

There may be other little problems for the rest of the EU but I am unable to test them.

*To Power cycle:
Either remove key, lock car, wait 10min, unlock and restart)
Or use engineers menu to reset the uConnect (Press Radio, More and Browse until menu pops up, scroll down to Reset Radio, answer YES)

First of all, great work.
I have Alfa Giulietta from 2015.
The software version 14.30.02
Nav server .10.2.389492
Kaart cmcvp4eu;nqeu2013Q2;20140407

I've already download magic.zip and backup.zip, unpacked them and put them on a USB (with flashlight) in the root.

If I'am correct I can make now a backup by putting the USB in.

After a while a backup is made on the USB and I have to store this backup.
If something went wrong can I restore to the old setting and how must I do this?

I have also download the 2018 EU and unpacked them.

When the backup is done I've put this a the USB with the unpacked files of MAgic and put the USB in and the files will be copied to the car.

When this is done is there also a new new software version and naviserver version?

Pease let me know.

Hi,

Personally I would update to v17.07.55 first, then do a full backup. (Backup + Magic .zip's). There is a zip to convert your backup into a restore image if you need / want it.

Then update the Maps using either full EU or just the country / countries you want. (Just a country takes about 15min, the full EU can take up to 1hour)

After this i would update the NaviServer too.... then just enjoy updated navigation*

(*with out SpeedCams, Voice Recognition and Full Postcodes)

Hope you enjoy

Hi iSquithy,

thanks for the reply.
What file do I need for update to v17.07.055 (where can I find this file) and how do I do that.

The procedure to update the Naviserver is the same (file Z naviServer download and unzip and copy to the root of the USB)?

Must I do this this also for TMC?

Ok the 17.07.55 update file is:

https://mega.nz/#F!kMYjlSKB!MCC6U1jclb0_aHc-NdocrA

In the 6.5 folder, ***PLEASE ONLY USE THE 17.07.55 ONE!***

The process to do any of the changes is all the same (or should be)

If you want working TCM for Italy then yes, the EU update already includes France and UK TCM files.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

iSquithy, fantastic work on the MAP updates. Recently updated to V18. I'm having an issue with my uConnect at the moment where the DAB radio signal has dropped massively and a lot of the stations I now struggle to even get signal for, which is why I updated to version 18. I think this could be related to an antenna issue in regards to that.

In regards to the Maps know i'll be keen to update the maps on my car if a compatible version for V18 gets sorted as they go back to 2014 (I have a 14 plate Giulietta). I'll be keeping an eye out.

Thanks for all your work its appreciated!

Hi iSquithy,

thanks for the answer.
I think that it's better to backup first before I update the software v17.07.055, navigation 2018Q3 and naviserver.

I've downloaded the files and unpacked them.

Can you check the files for me please (are these the correct one)

Many thanks for your help.

Almost but not quite!!!!!

I would update to 17.07.55 first - the backup is only for your navigation files not the system software.
Some of the older software versions have some problems with the magic file.

To do the v17.07.55 update you dont need the magic pack, just the swdl.iso that comes in the 17.07.55 update file and when it asks if you want to update you are saying YES - its the only one you do say yes to though!!!

Other than that your plan and files are good!!!!

Do you guys really use the nav that much of is it just the challenge of the updates that interests you?
I use it maybe 2-3 times per month. Given the original map pack on my car was 2013 meaning the map files were 2011, they were pretty inaccurate, but I am not going to pay AR ÂŁ260 to update my maps to the 2017 map pack with 2015 map files as I don't use it enough (and its a rip off) so I hacked the uConnect. Now I have 2018Q4 (released Feb 2019) map files that are accurate for when i want to use my Sat Nav unit. It also means that I have working TCM as that fix was only applied with the Map update.

OK,

Have you rebooted your uconnect through the engineers menu?
No I did not.
The procedure of the enigineers menu that you gave (Press radio, more and browse until menu pops up, scroll down to reset radio, answer yes) is not available for me.
If I press radio, more and browse I get to the frequentie of the radiostations.
Is there an other way to reboot or do I something wrong?
