Hi guys,this is my first post here,having just bought a very nice 916 GTV 3.0 24V.
The car is currently fitted with Goodyear GSD3 tyres (a great tyre,I have them on another non alfa car),but although there is plenty of tread,they are 13 years old and showing some age cracking.
However,they appear to be very hard to get now,and seem to have been replaced by the Assymetric 2.,which I dont like the look of.

Can any of you guys recommend a tyre that you have found suits this model,with good grip and handling.I am not worried about mileage or quiet running.Any suggestions will be welcome.

Thanks for that info.Tyre size is 225/45x17.Do you know the difference between the Assymetric 2 & 3 ?.

The Goodyear Assymetric 3, Michelin PS-4 are argueably the best tyres on the market at the moment.

I have the assymetric 2 on my Giulietta, and they are great. The Assymetric 3 should be slightly better in all areas.

Well last week I got to compare Goodyear AS 2, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and Michelin Primacy 3.

The Primacy 3 had the biggest contact patch but was only rated as Traction A and had a tread wear of 240, so I think this is a hard rubber tyre than the other two.

The AS2 and the PS4 were both rated as Traction AA and had a deeper tread, about 300, so i'd say these are softer tyres and would avoid aquaplaning better until the tread wears down. The PS4 had a bigger contact patch, three large radial grooves and one small one, compared with the AS2's 4 large radial grooves.

I have heard somewhere that the Goodyear's are quite a bit lighter then the Michelins if your looking to carry less weight.

I'd go for the PS4 out of those three. I'd like to see the contisport 5's though at some point.
