Hi All, long time. Looking for tyres, sold on Michelin PS3s (the PS2s have lasted a long time , over 10000 miles and hear the ps3s are better). The price is a shocker though, TWT quote 3150 each if buy 4 (18"s). In UK they cost about R1500. Pirelli PZero Rossos and Michelins PS2s are the only brands that were fitted to original GTs (in UK at least), don't really want to compromise tyre quality...

The pirelli will be substancially cheaper than the michelin, the michelins roadholding is very marginally better, but the pirreli will not give the same mileage as the michelin, its probably down to price and personal prefference.
Both are excellent tyres!

I have the PS3s and they seem pretty good. I paid R1500 each but that was on special. They were usually R1950 or something like that.

You need 18 inch?

18" are ridiculously expensive. Just is. I ended up going for Khumo Ecsta, and I'm pretty chuffed. can't say I notice any difference in grip from the Pirelli's I had prior, and I've taken the Khumo's on a track day and they aced it. Normally R2450 each, I got them for R2075 x4 cash. Do a little research on them on the tyre review sites, you'll be impressed with the results.

Ar4MGT- do not dismiss the Toyos, Mintys sell them in SA, they are definitely cheaper and you end up with similar performace to the Michelin and Pirellis, and they tend to last pretty well too.

Oh, and long time no see, how are you dealing with SA now? Is the car OK ?

Thanks for the advice. More tyre research then!
Eric- my car has been fine. Needed new radiator, after salt corrosion from UK winter the last few years. Had some performance friction pads fitted. I seem to spend more time out of RSA than in it, but probably just my perception. Took car to Kruger over 50km gravel\ sand \pebble roads, and suspension has never been quieter, not a squeak! My koni\eibach setup well worn in so probably helps, as does Q2 on sand.
