Hi All

Mrs. V’s 2015 MiTo Junior has just been in for its first National Car Test (NCT) here in Ireland and it turns out the tyre valve stems on the two front wheels are leaking and need to be replaced. Not a biggie, but before I get them replaced, a question … does the MiTo have tyre pressure sensors on the base of the stems? If so, can the sensors be swapped onto new valve stems or are the stems/sensors a single unit? If it’s the latter, do replacement units need coding to the car?

Cheers,

V.

It turns out the MiTo deos have tyre pressure sensors at the bottom of its valve stems, and the stems are detachable from the sensors.

A quick trip to a trusted tyre supplier here in Dublin (shout out to Phoenix Tyres on Jones' Road), they whipped off the wheels, marked the positions of the tyres on the rims to avoid the need to rebalance them, poped the beads, unscrewed the sensors/stems and fitted new ones then put everything back together.

TPMS still working and no slow air leaks from the valve stems.

Job done.
