Is there a guide on here for changing the cam belt on a 156 ts?

Im only 10k into the 36k, but my variator is getting noisy. Im pretty handy with the spanners but a guide with pics and anything i need to look out for would be nice to read up on before i get on with it.

Here you go Alfa Romeo Cam Belt Replacement on 1.6l and 1.8l TS engines or Gazza82's Alfa 156 2-litre Twinspark there is a list of special tools needed for the job on the second link, the belts on a t/s engine cannot be timed properly without them :thumbs:

is this true?? im planning to change my variator soon and realise that the cam locks and a make shift tool and vice to remove the variator from the cam are probably esencial but can i get away without a dti??

First few I did I used a long screwdriver to find tdc. The dial gauge is easier and more accurate though, and you can verify that the crank hasn't turned during tensioning.
