The works truck (Ford Ranger) failed the MOT on low tread on the OSF tyre last week....I knew it was close so no surprise....(unlike most of the other stuff it failed on!....all fixed now though!)....they asked me what tyre I wanted....as I was not sure what was on there I just asked them to fit something that matched. When I picked the car up the tyre was a Triangle tyre...they said that the old tyres were no longer available and this was the best match....because the tread pattern LOOKED the same.....not quite what I meant but it was cheap and its done now. So my review of the tyre follows....its terrible.....not only does it possess next to no wet grip at all (the ABS cuts in at moderate braking on any sort of wet road), the noise above about 50 mph is TERRIBLE......like the sound of an old Series 1 Defender with mud tyres on....you know that sort of loud howl! As an experiment I'm going to put it on the back to see if its any quieter not being right under the cab....also I might then be able to brake hard without killing anyone. And it could be fun powering out of the bends monitoring forward progress through the side window!
Conclusion. Well maybe the road based (non All Terrain) ones are better...never tried one......but based on this tyre the cost savings are far outweighed by the rubbish grip and noise!! Avoid Triangle Tyres.

It wont be.....I only use 4WD on muddy fields trying to pull caravans out.....so enough slip not to load anything up. Its not a road friendly 4WD like modern cars. 4WD low ratio makes it a difficult steer though!!!
