Trackman had his Giulietta project on Zwartkops Raceway for the first time on Saturday! It was a driver's training day, and he and his dad took both their Giuliettas out! :) It was a day that served as a test for the little red Giulietta with MANY things going wrong here and there, but Trackman managed to sort out most of them! He can fill you in on the details!

Here are a couple of pics of the day - only Alfas! It was a great day out!

Check the pics in these links - the attachments are slightly too big to upload, so check here for all the pics!

Thanks AQ for the pics:thumbs: and Alfa support!!:cheese:

a few issues:

The car had some bad overheating 120 C after 5 laps, when I removed the thermostat housing to find that one of the ears holding the thernostat had broken off, so it was blocking/ restricting the flow. Once I removed the whole thermostat and blocked the "recirculating pipe" the cooling was much better 100 C after 5 laps.
After abit of thinking and staring at my car I decided to take the front spoiler off, as in the pics you'll see that the only cooling is through the grill area, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! and is now perfect!! I will cut holes in the area where the number plate is... should be 100% then:thumbs:

Then the rear Exhaust rubber burnt off allowing the slide joint at the rear suspension to come off (see in some of the pics the Exhaust is hanging low).. then the hot gasses coming out the exhaust were now blowing onto the fuel line which burnt a hole onto the HP line... making a tiny hole that was pumping fuel right onto the exhaust:eek::eek:, thanks to J&M performance for mapping the car so it doesn't backfire:thumbs:.

The clutch is also a issue, I recently reconed it and it was perfect:D!! but I believe there is oil from the gearbox seal leaking onto the clutch:confused:, so it makes the already stiff and jerky AP twin plate clutch even more biter, now its almost impossible to pull away smothly, but that I will fix by replacing the G-box seals. (Easy, just abit of hard work..:( )

That was the only real problems..:)

The day went well, I started off slow to just feel the car and run the new front pads in, till the temp climbed.

After a few sessions I started to get some trust in the brakes and the handling, the car really does stop well and the handling is amazing:D you can throw the car into a corner and it will just stay planted!

The engine is in need of some serious attention (stood for 3 years) but that I will get to soon.

Im very happy with the car's progress and will hope to get all the little things done and get it on the track again..

And after a whole days racing I STILL DROVE THE CAR HOME:thumbs:

Cool stuff Trackman.

Nice to see that you got it out on the track at last.

Are you going to take it on the next "little breakfast club" run? I'd love to see it chomp those guys in their exorbitantly expensive cars.
