I've noticed quite a bit of torque steer on the ol' Fiat Renegade
a couple of times when a solid booting is required.

Is there any way to mitigate the effect?

(Apart from being less aggressive with the throttle.)

I can lock the 4WD but that kinda defeats the whole system/set-up.
And it resets every time you switch off. (FFS. Like a Ford.)

Ewok never showed this kind of behaviour.

It's down to power biasing, most all wheel drive are FWD with rear assist as opposed to Four wheel drive where it's a fifty fifty split.
Land rover know what they are doing and spent a lot of time getting the Freelander 2 / Ewok right after the viscous diff **** up on the original Freelander. The Ewok system is very slick at moving power / torque around the axles, they don't sell their technology either,BMW had to buy the company so they could build the X series!

... and there's a display on the Ewok showing how much power it's shunting to the back.
The Jeep has a nice centre display between the dials but the only info it seems to throw up there is a nice
Renegade graphic or the reversing sensors.

There's no HDC on the manual EU Renegades either :(

I guess that's the difference between a 50K car and a 20K car.

I had some torque steer once i had hardware and a different map installed. I had the main engine mount replaced with a polybush one and this has eliminated most of it. There is still some there but with 410bhp and 590lb ft of torque it's always going to be difficult to eradicate completely. The Jeep has quite aggressive torque if i recall, it all comes in quite early.

Hmm not the 1st time people have mentioned engine mounts.

Yeah, it delivers a peak 250-odd lb-ft at 1750rpm. Or there abouts.

It does go up mountain roads like a rat up a drain pipe.

Well, well. The creaking/groaning I started hearing a couple of weeks ago turns
out to be a duff engine mount.

Found by Fiat whilst it was in Jeep-Daycare today.

or they could have fitted a revoknuckle / hiperstrut set up like you find on some other 20K cars
