Hi does anyone know, or know where I can find, the correct torque settings for suspension bolts? I'm after lower arm bolts, upper and lower ball joint bolts, shock fork bolt etc.

Is it possible to over tighten and strip the lower arm rear bush bracket?

Have finally got it in and don't want to **** it up!

I found a complete list on elearn that was correct for the most part. yes it is possible and a thread on the gta forum states that all the settings can only be used on trw or genuine arms as lesser parts tend to strip out..

a few are using longer bolts on lower arms with nuts added for further security ... I can try and find them tomorrow if you dont have elearn

Thanks that would be great, I don't have Elearn. Am worried I may have stripped one, if the worst happens can I place a bolt and locking nut?

I got most of the torque settings from the Alfaworkshop site. Usually find them as a technical advice note associated with the part. Didn't get any though for the lower arm to subframe.
They were
shock fork to lower arm 8.1 -8.9 daNm
upper arm bolt 4.3 -4.7 daNm
upper arm balljoint 4.3 -4.7 daNm
track rod end 2.9 -3.5 daNm

I got those from a post-it I had noted them down on recently so I would advise that you double check yourself for accuracy and to get the details for those not listed:smile:
I would be careful with the wishbone to subframe bolts as I think it would be possible to mess those up by overtightening or even cross threading. Good luck with it.

The "shock fork to lower arm" values are actually for the "shock to fork".
The upper arm bolt values are different from that specified in eLearn.

The lower arm brackets are all aluminum. It is really easy to strip them if over-torqued.


Here are the values taken from eLearn. I try to group them from top to bottom:
Upper arm bolt 4.0-4.9 daNm
Upper arm balljoint 4.3-4.7 daNm

Shock to fork pinch bolt 8.1-8.9 daNm
Fork to lower arm bolt 10.8-13.2 daNm
Lower arm bolts 6.2-6.8 daNm

Anti-roll bar droplink nuts 3.8-4.7 daNm

Track rod end 2.9-3.5 daNm

Thanks for the input ppl. I've got them all back together now, will be getting ARB Powerflexed soon so will get it all checked.

Side note- does anyone know why on earth the rear brackets are aluminium? Horrible horrible material.
