Gearbox : Just undo the filler hole plug ( Allen type hex ) on the front of the gearbox ( near the air filter ) and remove the adjacent reverse light switch. Top up the oil via the filler until it reaches the level of the reverse light switch. Refit reverse light switch and filler plug.

A bit awkward to get to, but not particularly difficult.

When I put new shock absorbers on just the rear of my GTV at 56,500 the ride became a lot less harsh and other people have reported the same, the rears are also far easier to fit than the fronts. I fitted Bilstein B6, but many people have reported favourably on KYB shock absorbers which are also cheaper than Alfa originals.

There's a guide on here for the gearbox oil, I assume it's the same as the GTV, I did it, piece of cake. If it's not been changed in a very long time you might want to empty it first. Easy also.. as long as you have a tool that can get to it, my socket was too long, allen key didnt fit. You either need a short socket or an allen key with the end cut off :)

A quick word of warning to keep an eye on gear oil levels, I've just bought a Spider stuck in gear, the reason it was sticking was the box was bone dry. I've no idea how long it was left with a drip to lose it all but once filled it changes and drives normally though too late, it makes awful noise in neutral. Another box needed for the sake routine maintainance.
