Well, 1st of all noone can make a realistic 100 cars list - its even hard to write down 100 different comments, but OK.

I guess Alfa was missed out here because all the new ones are FWD. As good as they are compared to other FWDs, they cant find their place because of the bloody german RWD monsters. Simply, people love those more, no matter how fun and beautiful Alfa is.

Still, that doesnt justify why there is only one Alfa there - I mean why isnt there a transaxle 75? Or GTV6? Those were real drivers cars.

And how the hell can Megane be in the 5th place??? Ok, its a good hot hatch, but 5th of 100???? No way - then GTA 147 and 156 should be on the list definitely.

Ironically the Alfasud was FWD also !

The Alfetta GTV / V6 should defintely be on the list I grew up with them in my youth and had alot of fun with them. Also I dont know how people can compare cars from 20-40-60 years ago if theyve never driven them. They would only be based on impressions of the time.

No I havent, lots of Renaults and normal Megane though if that hepls, but doesnt take a genius to see that its a bit odd to see it side to side to a 340R and Superseven??? I am not saying it is not brilliant, sure it is, I wanted to point out that if Megane is in 5th place, GTAs 147 and 156 should be at least in 99th ans 100th.

Put the ball down - excess of atitude over there, mate.

Lets face it, Alfa haven't made a good drivers car for years. The current crop are years behind with even a 2003 MG ZR having better turn in that any of the new ones.

What does that say about driving pleasure.

Should it be in 5th? I don't know, I haven't all te cars on the list! Does it deserve to be on the list? Probably, IMHO. I've had the joy of driving most "cooking" Renaults over the years, and as courtesy cars I feel it appropriate to thrash them. The R26 is hugely better than those cars in terms of raw driver pleasure, and also much better IMHO than the Clio Clubsport.

The only car on last list I have driven is a Mini Cooper S and it was crap, why did it even rank on there? I always take these top **insert pointless compliation title here** with a trailer load of salt anyway

**edit, i dove a DC2 integra too but I'm not sure which model they're talking about, but the EP3 civic is a better drivers car**

I got bored looking through that list, what a load of toss. Alot of the cars are £200k plus super cars, as nice and stunning as they are, only a select few get to drive and own them so there hardly drivers cars are they?

Lotus seemed to do well 3 cars in the top 20
Even the Ford Puma made the list

I regard lists like this as willy waving by motoring journalists who write in ridiculous comics. They are all the same and list the same list of tedious ultimate road weapon supercars that are marginally faster than the previous ultimate road weapon supercars. Most of us will never be in a position to establish if the Pagani Zonda F is the ultimate supercar or is, in fact, a bit **** because even if we had one, we'd never get anywhere near the limits of its abilities. All we have to go on is the word of these clowns telling us that the Veyron understeers a bit at high speed.

Having thrown in the supercars, they chuck something in the top ten that's a bit blue collar (like the Megane) to demonstrate that they are still down with the kids and haven't lost touch. Having written the copy, they go and get in their company BMW 318D and drive home.

My three most memorable motoring moments involved a Land Rover Defender which was really difficult to drive and really satisfying to drive well, a Lada 1300 which you could four-wheel drift at 40 mph just about anywhere and the time I took my MKII Escort over a hump back bridge and found an unexpected left turn causing the back to step out. For once, I caught and held it perfectly (usually such things end in tears for me).

As Troy Queef would say:

This often overlooked product of a glittering Korea has a classy chassis that loves to dance. Pile into corners hard and feel it key into the road, tyres biting, suspension soft yet taut like the breasts of a lapdancer. I stared this car in the face and not once did it flinch. Only as I crossed its ample limits did the tail step out. All at once I gave it a dab of oppo and I was away.

The Kia Magentis 2.0 CRDi is a *****. And I spanked it.

Absolute ********.

The Alfa GTV TS I had previously was the best handling car Ive ever driven. It was beautifully balanced on par or better than the MX5 that Ive owned also. So Why is there no mention at all of it ? Ive also owned 2x Alfasud Sprints in my opinion they were not that special at all. Id rate the current GTV TS better than both of them by a mile.

Some people are just also anti Alfa. Tiff Nedell from Fith gear says he just not a fan of Alfas. So if you have people like that compiling the list there wont be any alfas in this list. Im sure if someone like Clarkson from Top Gear put the list together who loves Alfas there would be plenty more Alfas in the list.

i suppose a question is also what is good handling? And whether that's more desirable than 'engaging' handling? How many cars that handle well, are devoid of anything engaging in their handling? The first gen Audi TT comes to mind. In 1997, my mate took delivery of the first generation Boxster. On collection, my job was to drive back his 1994 BMW 318is Coupe, as he took back the Porsche.

In my mind, i was a wee bit reticent, because I was worried that his BMW would show my recently bought GTV6 to be a handling relic from the past. On the drive home, i was convinced that, while through the virtue of modern design, his BMW could generate more g etc through the bends, but his BMW couldn't even lick my GTV6 for cornering pleasure and driving engagement. I got out of the BMW grinning like an idiot - 'fun to drive, isn't it?' my mate said - if only he knew what i was actually grinning at :)

And another thing (this may become a full blown rant soon), Number 89 VW Golf GTi MK1 AND 2! Every possible variation of Ferrari and 911 gets a separate mention (430 Challenge Stradale, Challenge Stradale with the optional stripe, 430 in Yellow, 911 GT3, GT3 RS, turbo etc etc) but two different (or 4 if you take 1.6 & 1.8 MK1 and 8V & 16V MKII) real world usable driver's cars aren't even worth separating.

Good point, and ditto Alfasud which groups saloon/coupe/1.2/1.3/1.5/1.7 in a single listing. Even my Elan came in various states of tune that changed its character.

This is essentially a list of recent supercars with a reluctant nod at the rest.
